After 10 years of service, the Icom IC-706 has been replaced with a Kenwood TS-480 for the latest features during this extended period of zero sun spots.  So far the performance has been excellent on both CW and SSB.

Mobile operation includes 80 to 6 meter SSB and VHF/UHF FM.  I'll present installation details for a VW Westphalia as I build this site.  Of course, many of the tips are useful in any installation and some readers have made contributions.

I have been very activine in QRP and Portable and joined the yahoo HFPACKS group in early 2001.

Reference books and part sources are listed.  You will find a reasonable amount of detail  to prepare your installation, plan the wiring and build an equipment mount.   New information to build your own HF/VHF solid state amplifiers and references to portable fiberglass masts.

The HF mobile antenna is a compromise but performance can be improved.  Details describe the whip antenna with an auto-tuner for 20M through 10M operation.  Additional details are located in the part sources.
